I adore driving my car and discovering new places, so whenever possible, I get behind the wheel and travel around Europe. There's not a corner of our exciting little continent that isn't worth the trip. As you can see at the bottom of this page, I've already explored every European country except for Cyprus and Bosnia, and there are still some islands on my to-do list. Incidentally, the picture to the left was taken in Lisbon in 2007. Portugal is one of my favourite destinations. Wonderful people.

 

As I've now grazed off more or less all of Europe, I did what any clever antelope would do: I turned my sights to greener pastures. For my 50th birthday, I treated myself to a solo road trip through Turkey to Armenia, and in August 2026, my sister and I set off for another big adventure: a long journey overland to Central Asia. You can follow our exploits on my new The Drive to Explore the World blog.

 

In the drop-down list on the left, you can see which of my travels have been turned into blogs. So far, only the road trips with my sister to Albania, the Ukraine, Scandinavia and Northern Russia as well as my first solo journey through the Caucasus are finished, but I hope to put up more reminiscences in the future. Basically, as soon as I can get myself to commit to three weeks non stop just doing this. Don't hold your breath. Being on the road is just more fun than sitting behind a computer.

 

Also, a few years back, I turned some of my trips into verse (not the pompous, I-wax-lyrical kind, but rather the tongue-in-cheek Byronic sort) and you can read them on my cathar maiden site.
